Faith & Doubt
If faith comes by hearing the spoken word of God (Rom 10:17), & doubt is the opposite of faith. Then faith is not the only thing that comes by hearing, doubt comes too. Doubt comes by hearing, and by hearing the spoken word of the devil (negative).
Napoleon Hill’s ‘Outwitting the Devil’ tells us that the devil comes as everything that opposes positivity. Have you ever had an idea that you think is absolutely amazing? You’re so enthused that you decide to share with someone. Instead of cheering you on, this person finds every negative thing that could possibly be concerned with your idea, & all of a sudden you’re not so excited. You begin to doubt. Get the picture?
On the other hand, there are times when I’m doubtful about something, and the spoken word of someone else (God, a friend etc) causes my faith to build. Their encouragement/counsel (word) caused me to see things in a better light.
So, what are you feeding on? Also, which are you feeding people? If everyone around you is feeding negativity, you need a change of environment, guard your gate (the ears). Likewise, if all you feed people is negativity, you need a change of mindset.
Let no corrupting (negative) talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
