Stripped for Purpose

Some things were revealed to me late last year from the book of Genesis chapter 12-13. I had read these chapters at least 3 times before then and these awesome lessons were never revealed to me. NB: one way the Lord speaks to us is through His word; yet another important reason to know the word.
You see God is omniscient and His timing is perfect. I repeat, His timing is PERFECT. This revelation came just as a friend and I were discussing association/companionship and how some people are only in your life for a season. I had made a Facebook post regarding this: “When a building goes up the scaffolding comes down.” Scaffolding is a temporary structure on the outside of a building, used by workmen while building, repairing, or cleaning the building. Now look at the scaffolding as people in your life and the workman is God. Saints, God uses these people in your stage of building, repairing and cleaning but when the job is done, they’re no longer needed.
Moving along, Genesis 12 begins with the Lord commanding Abram (Abraham) to leave his parents’ house and his country, to a land where He will send him to establish himself. Abram obeyed God and left his country BUT he brought with him his wife Sarai (Sarah), Lot and Lot’s wife. The scripture in verse 7 of chapter 13 reads thus “And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram’s cattle and the herdmen of Lot’s cattle.” Vs 9 “Is not the whole land before thee? Separate thyself, I pray thee, from me…” Says Abram. Going down to verse 14, and this really got me excited, scripture says “And the Lord said unto Abram, AFTER THAT LOT WAS SEPARATED FROM HIM, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward and eastward and westward” v15 “For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.” Lord Jesus! I wonder who’s starting to see why I’m excited. 😁 Let me continue.
Here’s what really really got me excited! Even though the Lord had told Abram from chapter 12 that he will establish him, catch this now, it was not until he was separated from Lot in chapter 13 (God knows how long that was) that the Lord directed Abram to walk into what He had promised him! Verse 14 says AFTER that Lot was separated from him!
Hear this now, some people can travel with you until a point and no further! And if they should go any further than they are permitted, their presence might hinder what the Lord wants to do in your life! V17 says “Arise, walk through the land in the length of it and in the breadth of it; for I (The Lord) will give it unto thee.” Abram never got the go ahead until he was separated from Lot!
Having some people in your life is not conducive to spiritual progression! When the Lord sends you, go, and carry no one unless he bids you so, Lest you cause a setback! Sometimes when the Lord is removing people from our lives or pushing them back we fight to keep them not knowing how great a hindrance their being in our life is! (Take it from me πŸ˜’). Be like Abram was! For the sake of walking into promise, trust the Lord and part willingly. And no I do not mean malice, sometimes we have to love people from a distance. I had a similar experience recently (God is very jealous of me lol πŸ‘€), the Lord separated us, I couldn’t understand why then, but I know now! We needed to walk separate paths into purpose! Lord Jesus! Us being close friends was not facilitating that. The Lord makes the BEST decisions and I say that with all certainty! #TrustHim

  2. I admire how you take the scriptures and relate it to our mundane human experiences. Many think the scriptures are archaic and just incomprehensible. It may seem so but it is how we apply it to our lives that gives it purpose and offer us the faith we need to walk this journey! Continue to walk in the beauty of God’s word.
